- Apparel Manufacturing
Under the Group are thirteen manufacturing facilities located in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China, Cambodia and Malaysia, designing and producing more than 1500 different styles for customers in our key markets in North America, Europe and Asia.
Renowned brands form the cornerstone of our customer base, which includes Aeropostale, Banana Republic, Eddie Bauer, GAP, Gymboree, Polo Ralph Lauren, The North Face, and Under Armour in addition to major departmental stores such as Macy’s and Kohls as well as international mail order houses, Movitex and Littlewoods.
As a value-added service, we provide embroidery services to our customers as a means of enhancing our production capabilities and widening our product offering.
- Agency, Trading And Distribution Services
With an in-depth knowledge of the apparel business, we provide global sourcing, compliance monitoring and order management of different products under the procurement services we provide to our customers. Our offi ces and representatives in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong undertake this area of business and are supported by an extensive network of suppliers and manufacturers in the region.
In 1997, due to demand for embroidery services by the then Walt Disney Trading Company, Sing Lun set up embroidery factory in Sri Lanka to service Walt Disney embroidery needs in Sri Lanka. The embroidery is today a nominated Walt Disney Embroidery factory, and are equipped with 600 embroidery heads of the latest Tajima computerized embroidery machines, that can embroider up to fifteen colors.
In 1985, to further expand itself in the industry, the Sing Lun Group acquired Kaye Agencies Private Limited, a major buying house in Singapore, Indonesia and Cambodia. Kaye is the nominated buying house for The Great Universal Store (GUS) since 1989. GUS is one of the largest retailing group in the United Kingdom, that owns major retail outlets such as Burberry's as well as mail order catalogs. Since 1991, Kaye is also the nominated buying house for Movitex S.A., a subsidiary of the largest French retailer. The Pinault Printemp Redoute Group (PPR).
In the early 70s, Sing Lun secured apparel manufacturing contracts from Europe, from customers such as La Redoute S.A. and Quelle La Source SA.By 1978, apparel manufacturing replaced textile trading business as the major revenue contributor.
Sing Lun was started in 1951 as an importer, exporter and wholesaler of textiles. In 1969, Patrick Lee return from a textile training course in Japan and was given the responsibility of charting the future of the company. His vision was to become a world-class manufacturer of quality knit apparel. First apparel factory was set up in Singapore in 1969, and consequently in Johor Malaysia in1971.
